Dredging of Peel harbour starts
February 2008
DREDGING of Peel's inner harbour got underway today (1st Feb) and will take up to two months to complete. The work will involve taking approximately half a metre to a metre depth of silt, sand and gravel deposits from the harbour bed from the flap gate to the bottom of the slipway alongside the House of Manannan.

Work will be carried out by Wyre Marine Services of Fleetwood using two of their small dredgers and is being done to assist with the installation of pontoons as part of the marina scheme, which goes before Tynwald for approval this month.

Awards For Excellence
December 2007
Street Heritage won the Isle of Man Post Office sponsored award for Effective Use of IT at this years Isle of Man Newspapers Awards for Excellence. The award was mainly a result of the work and systems developed for the Peel Bay Festival. John Shakespeare is pictured receiving the award from Pamela Crowe MLC.

Jonathan Irving - Managing Director of Street Heritage has been awarded the TA Kelly Plate for the second time since the plate was first presented in 1989. This time the Plate has been awarded for his contribution to local charities and events in and around Peel.

The Photograph shows Jonathan Irving being interviewed by Bob Harrison - radio presenter from Manx Radio - for a video being made by Manx Radio about some of the most succesful radio advertising campaigns of 2007 - notably the Peel Bay Festival. The interview was held in the stunning location of Mariners Wharf.

£2.6m Peel Marina gets go-ahead.
PLANNERS have given the go ahead for the proposed £2.6m marina development for Peel Harbour. The government planning committee approved application (07/0910) from the Department of Transport for floating pontoons with 124 berths, a boat park and maintenance area, a new toilet and shower block and additional parking spaces.

Street Heritage were the main sponsors of this year's carnival - the only carnival left on the Island. Thousands came to Peel and enjoyed a great family day out and the sun finally showed up too!

Shakespeare in Peel Castle

Street Heritage organised and sponsored the 22nd continuous open air performance of Shakespeare in Peel Castle. This year's play was A Comedy of Errors which proved to be the case with the Manx weather!

Hundreds still came and had a great evening - this event is now firmly fixed on the summer calendar.

Madness will be performing in the 10,000 capacity marquee with The Stranglers kicking the night off.

Ticket prices are as follows: Standing £39.50 and VIP £99.50. There is an introductory 5% discount for people who buy tickets within 21 days of going on sale and a 10% discount if you've bought tickets for another night.

Peel New Year Dip

On the start line for the 25th Dip - over 260 dippers braved the waters with hundreds of spectarors lining the shore. Mike Rose who works for Street Heritage went in on behalf of the Company. He can be spotted on the front row in typical builders attire!

The Photograph shows members of the Peel New Year Dip committe receiving a cheque for £750 towards the running of the Dip. The next dip will be the 25th Anniversary and so far over £113,000 has been raised. Entry forms are available on line at www.peeldip.com. There are prizes for best male, female, child & group

The Photograph shows members of Commercio - a Young Enterprise company recieving a cheque from Street Hertiage to sponsor the Christmas Trade Fair at Queen Elizabeth II High School, Peel on Wednesday 29 November. All are welcome.
Retailers have hired tables allowing them to branch out into the west of the Island or just informing consumers of their products or services. The event starts at 5pm and finishes at 9pm, admission is free.

Manx Rowing Challenge
October 2006

The photograph shows Andrew Kneen with his new boat "Fight & Spirit" which is being launched on 28th October at Peel Lifeboat Slip. In July 2007 he is planning to row with Mark Buttery to all of the countries surrounding the Isle of Man in the Irish Sea.  The route will start in the Isle of Man and will take them to Southern Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, England and finally back to the Isle of Man - a total of 360 miles.  It is expected that this will take approximately 7-10 days - weather permitting!

The purpose of the two-man row is to raise funds for the Leukaemia Research Fund. For more information log onto Manx Rowing Challenge

Street Heritage has supported the project and also provided a temporary home during the construction of the boat.

The photograph shows Karl Baxter in action at Croft near Darlington in the Street Heritage sponsored kart. Karl finished 8th overall at the meeting. The next round is at Cadwell in October and the final round round at Silverstone in November.

The photograph shows Jonathan Irving presenting Sharon Rye with a cheque for £400 towards this years production. This is one of the highlights of the year for the Western School of Dance. The photograph shows Jonathan Irving presenting Mike Clark with a cheque for £600 towards the ongoing up keep of the boat. Mike has spent many years lovingly restoring this Manx fishing sailing boat. The White Heather was built on the site of the new Mariner's Wharf Development in 1904.

5th May - Cheque Presentation

On Saturday morning down at Ronaldsway Airport, Jonathan Irving (MD of Street Heritage) presented a cheque for £1,175 to The Isle of Man Football Team. The money is being used to pay for the team's tracksuits

1st May - Karl Baxter

Well known local kart racer Karl Baxter is to compete this year in the full 2006 British Championship.  Having been successful racing on the Isle of Man for many years, winning all 3 races in his class in the 2005 Peel Kart Grand Prix  - Karl is now ready to challenge the best in Great Britain.

One of the few disadvantages of living on the Isle of Man is the cost of traveling to and from the Island and Karl is very pleased to have received sponsorship from the Peel based developers Street Heritage Ltd.  Jonathan Irving Managing Director of Street Heritage said “I have known Karl for many years and it is a pleasure to be able to help Karl represent the Island in the British Championships – the only proviso is that if he competes in this years Peel Kart Grand Prix is that he drives very carefully past our new development Mariner’s Wharf on the East Quay!”

4th April - Leece & Havercroft

Leece & Havercroft, the last business left on the Mariner's Wharf site, has now shut thier doors and Ernie Leece (pictured) has now retired. The Smithy has been one of Peel's landmarks and we hope to display the old anvil in the new development. We would like to wish Ernie and his daughter all the best for the future.

Our new marketing suite is now open everyday during April from 2.00pm to 4.30pm inclusing Saturdays and Sundays. Located in one of the new shops at Harbour View a display shows all the floor plans and prices and our full brochure is also available.
